David Isern - Director of Photography David is an experienced commercial, industrial, and documentary camera man. Along with his vast experience, David brings a truckload of professional equipment including tube dolly, Steadicam unit, and the Sony 24P High Definition camera. He was invaluable, not only for his technical expertise but also for his "eye" and creative input. Rick Thomas - Gaffer / Electric Rick Thomas was the gaffer, also known as the lighting engineer. His job of lighting the movie was much more involved than the average viewer might think. Along with DP David Isern, Rick was responsible for the "look" of the movie. In the "hurry up and wait" atmosphere of a movie set, one person we never waited on was Rick. He was an efficient gaffer and always went the extra mile to make sure we had what we wanted. He has been working as a lighting engineer for at least 24 years and has also worked on everything from local industrial films and commercials to national ads and projects that spill over the Toledo border.ts moving and evocotive nature. Larry Gold was our location sound engineer. The importance of good audio is deceiving. In the past on many low budget productions, audio used to be given less attention and it would be apparent upon viewing the film . Cleanly recorded audio can make a low budget project look like a lot more money was spent on it. Derek Hansen - Assistant Director Derek Hansen was a member of my improvisational comedy troupe and a film and theater student at the University of Toledo at the time that In The Company Of Strangers started shooting. Derek worked with me from the beginning. He assisted in the casting process in the first open call and the call back process. I approached him about acting as Assistant Director and, like everything else in his life, Derek jumped into this new task with enthusiasm and excitement. It was his first job as an AD and I would definitely pick him for future projects in the same capacity. Derek also does a nice job in a very small acting appearance as Jennifer's boyfriend in ITCOS. Mark Edward Zink - Creative Consultant I really don't even know where to begin when I talk about Mark. We have been friends for 17 years and he was my inspiration when I started doing stand-up. When we were both living in LA, we collaborated on a number of screenplays (which we hope to produce someday). and we went through the rigors of trying to get our scripts seen. We learned the hard way how not to pitch a project or take a creative meeting. When it came time to produce In the Company of Strangers, he encouraged me to direct my first feature. He promised to be there for whatever I needed. He was always available with a scene or dialogue suggestion and he was a second set of eyes in the editing process. He even agreed to act as an extra whenever we needed him. I don't think I could have completed this project without his assistance. |
